- November 2009: HealthMatters of Central Oregon and The Central Oregon Integration Project are collaborating on a state pilot project that aims to improve health of people with mental illness. Local health workers say the project will increase the coordination of care for patients dealing with a combination of mental and physical illnesses and, in some cases, substance abuse. - February 2008: House Bill 3626 Passes — Oregon’s Legislative Assembly passed House Bill 3626, the reconciliation budget, during the month long special session in February 2008. This bill includes an allocation of $500,000 devoted toward community healthcare delivery grants. The intent of this grant program is to support community efforts that improve access to and the effectiveness of health care delivery for families.
The goals of the community healthcare delivery grant program are to: (a) Improve preventive health services; (b) Increase access to appropriate, affordable and efficiently delivered primary care for families; (c) Provide new access to health care for children; (d) Explore alternative models for reimbursement of health care services; and (e) Collect information to allow for an evaluation of each grant-funded project.
Details, including a request for proposals, will be released in the coming weeks.

Matching Grant — HealthMatters of Central Oregon has recently been awarded a matching grant opportunity from Partnership to End Poverty to conduct market research on health disparities within our region. We are pursuing matching funds to conduct a region- wide employee/employer survey focused on the creation of local solutions relating to healthcare access, coverage, prevention, wellness, and consumerism for the people of Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson Counties. We applaud the incredible work that the Partnership to End Poverty is doing here in Central Oregon and appreciate their partnership with HealthMatters of Central Oregon.
